Please Note: These replacement levers do not come with a plunger, cross pin or spring. You’ll be able to re-use the parts from your factory lever as part of the installation process.

    INSTALLATION

    1. Remove Factory Lever – Open your action and check—then double check—that the rifle is unloaded. Return the lever to about the halfway point, remove the lever pivot screw, and then slide your old lever down and out of the action.
    2. Re-use parts from Factory Lever – Remove the plunger, cross pin and spring from your factory lever. Lay the lever on a supportive block right side up. Use a 1/16 inch punch (file a few 1000th of an inch off diameter) to drive the plunger cross pinout toward the left. Remove the plunger and spring and insert them into the new lever. Use an oversized punch to drive the cross pin back in from left to right taking note of the splined end of the cross pin.
    3. New Marlin Factory Parts – Same instructions as above with one change before driving in pin. Insert spring and plunger and depress until flush with lever. If it’s painful to do so, remove the spring and clip off 1 coil.
    4. Shims – Install one or more on either side of the lever at pivot screw.
    5. Install RPP Lever in the reverse manner, being sure to engage the control blade in its corresponding bolt slot. Operate the action, feeling for hitches or excessive friction. As a final check, close the action, lower the hammer all the way, and then pop the lever open just past the plunger. You should feel a small amount of free travel in the lever right after the plunger disengages from the receiver pin. If everything feels right, you are ready to shoot. If not, your lever may need some minor fitting.

If equipped with a Ranger Point Precision takedown screw, a flathead screwdriver may not be required.

Step 3 – Loosen Magazine Tube Retention Screw

    Inside the receiver area:

    1. Locate the hidden 5/64″ magazine tube retention screw underneath the trigger guard area.
    2. Loosen the screw enough to release the outer magazine tube.
    3. Do not fully remove the screw.

Step 4 – Remove Inner Magazine Tube

    1. Pull the inner magazine tube from the rifle.
    2. Set it aside.

Step 5 – Remove Factory Handguard

    1. Slide the outer magazine tube forward and remove it.
    2. Slide the factory handguard off the rifle.

    NOTE

On Henry X models, the factory forearm may fit tightly and require gentle tapping for removal.

    HANDGUARD INSTALLATION

Step 6 – Reinstall Magazine Tube

    1. Reinsert the outer magazine tube.
    2. Align the magazine tube and tenon with the barrel.

    Step 7 – Install Handguard

    IMPORTANT

The handguard only installs in one direction.

    • QD sockets and loading port cutout must face correctly.
    • Rear flange slides into the receiver.

    To install:

    1. Slide the handguard into the receiver.
    2. Pull it over the factory tenon.
    3. Seat the handguard fully into place.

Step 8 – Install Pan Head Screws

    1. Insert the supplied pan head screws into the larger lower holes.
    2. Thread them into the factory tenon.
    3. Tighten lightly only at this stage.

    IMPORTANT

    • Do not cross-thread.
    • If resistance is felt, stop and realign.

Step 9 – Install Set Screws

Install the four set screws into the sides of the handguard.

    Recommended

Apply Blue or Purple Loctite before installation.

    IMPORTANT

    • Set screws only need to contact the barrel lightly.
    • Do not overtighten.

    Purpose of Set Screws

    • Prevent movement.
    • Keep the handguard centered and aligned.

Step 10 – Tighten Magazine Tube Retention Screw

    Using a 5/64″ Allen key:

    1. Tighten the magazine tube retention screw handtight.

    WARNING

Do not overtighten. Excessive torque can deform the magazine tube.

    FINAL ALIGNMENT

    Step 11 – Center Handguard

Visually inspect the gap between the barrel and handguard.

    Adjust until:

    • Both sides appear even.
    • The handguard sits parallel to the barrel.

    Step 12 – Final Tightening

After confirming the handguard is centered:

    • Factory Tenon Screws: 8 in-lbs
    • Handguard Alignment / Set Screws: Hand Tight Only

    IMPORTANT

Allow thread locker to cure before firing.

Set screws should only lightly contact the barrel.

Do not apply additional torque after barrel contact is achieved.

PewView Heat Shield and Picatinny Rail

The PewView system consists of three primary components:

    • Handguard
    • Heat Shield
    • Receiver Mounted Picatinny Rail

Step 1 – Install Heat Shield

    Orient the heat shield correctly:

    • Slotted end faces the muzzle.
    • Two threaded holes face the receiver.
    1. Slide the heat shield onto the top of the handguard.
    2. Ensure the heat shield is fully seated.
    3. Install the four supplied heat shield screws.
    4. Start all screws by hand.

    IMPORTANT

    • Do not cross-thread the screws.
    • Tighten evenly.
    • Heat shield screws should be hand tight only.

Step 2 – Center Heat Shield

Inspect the muzzle end of the handguard.

    Adjust the heat shield until:

    • Equal spacing exists on both sides.
    • The heat shield is centered over the barrel.

    If necessary:

    1. Adjust the front alignment set screws.
    2. Allow the set screws to lightly contact the barrel.
    3. Verify the heat shield remains centered.

    IMPORTANT

Set screws should only lightly contact the barrel.

    Step 3 – Prepare Receiver

    1. Remove the four factory receiver plug screws from the top of the receiver.
    2. Set the screws aside.

    NOTE

Henry rifle caliber models utilize four receiver mounting holes.

Step 4 – Install Receiver Rail

    1. Position the receiver rail on top of the receiver.
    2. Align the rear rail holes with the threaded holes in the heat shield.
    3. Install the four receiver rail screws loosely.
    4. Install the two rail-to-heat shield screws loosely.

    IMPORTANT

Do not apply final torque at this stage.

All six screws should remain loose to allow final alignment.

Step 5 – Final Rail Alignment

    1. Verify the rail sits flat against the receiver.
    2. Verify the heat shield remains centered.
    3. Verify the handguard remains centered around the barrel.
