    Henry Rifle Caliber MAS Handguard Installation Instructions

    For Ranger Point Precision Henry rifle caliber models

    IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

    Before beginning installation:

    • Ensure the firearm is completely unloaded
    • Open the action and visually inspect the chamber and magazine tube
    • Remove all live ammunition from the workspace
    • Wear eye protection during installation

    These instructions are for Henry rifle caliber models only.
    If you have a pistol caliber model (.357, .44 Mag, .45 Colt, etc.), refer to the correct pistol caliber installation instructions, as additional disassembly steps are required.

    Tools Required

    • Bench block
    • Non-marring hammer
    • Flathead screwdriver
    • 5/64″ Allen key
    • Allen wrench set (recommended)
    • Blue or Purple Loctite
    • Torque Wrench

    Torque Specifications

    Use a calibrated inch-pound torque wrench whenever possible.

    Thread Locker

    Apply Blue (242) or Purple (222) Loctite to all mounting screws unless otherwise specified.

    Important

    • Handguard set screws for alignment.
    • Set screws should only lightly contact the barrel.
    • Overtightening set screws can affect handguard alignment and damage threads.
    • Verify handguard alignment before applying final torque.
    • Allow the thread locker to cure before firing.

    Included Hardware

    • M-LOK Handguard
    • (2) Pan head screws
    • (4) Set screws
    • Allen key

    Features include:

    • M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock
    • QD sling sockets
    • Threaded 10-32 sling stud mounting point
    • Loading port cutout

    Installation Instructions

    Step 1 – Remove Magazine Tube Retaining Screw

    Locate the small set screw underneath the forearm.

    Using a flathead screwdriver:

    1. Remove the small plug screw carefully
    2. Set it aside in a safe location

    Step 2 – Loosen Magazine Tube Screw

    Using a 5/64″ Allen key:

    1. Loosen the magazine tube retaining screw slightly
    2. Do not fully remove it

    This allows the outer magazine tube to move freely.

    Step 3 – Remove Inner Magazine Tube

    1. Pull the inner magazine tube out of the rifle
    2. Set it aside

    Step 4 – Remove Factory Handguard and Tenon

    Using the bench block and non-marring hammer:

    1. Support the rifle properly
    2. Carefully drive the magazine tube tenon/dovetail out
    3. Remove the tenon
    4. Slide the outer magazine tube forward and remove it
    5. Slide the factory handguard off the rifle

    NOTE:
    On X Models, the factory polymer forearm may fit tightly and may require gentle tapping to loosen.

    Step 5 – Reinstall Factory Tenon and Magazine Tube

    1. Reinsert the outer magazine tube
    2. Position the factory tenon correctly:
      • Small hole faces the receiver
      • Larger hole faces the muzzle/loading gate
    3. Align the tenon with the barrel dovetail
    4. Carefully tap the tenon back into place using the non-marring hammer

    IMPORTANT:

    • Ensure everything stays level during installation
    • Do not force the tenon

    Step 6 – Install the Handguard

    IMPORTANT:

    The handguard only installs in one direction.

    • QD sockets and loading port cutout should face correctly
    • Rear flange slides into the receiver

    To install:

    1. Slide the handguard into the receiver
    2. Pull it over the factory tenon
    3. Seat the handguard fully into place

    Step 7 – Install Pan Head Screws

    Using the supplied pan head screws:

    1. Insert screws into the larger lower holes
    2. Thread them into the factory tenon
    3. Tighten lightly only at this stage

    IMPORTANT:

    • Do not cross-thread
    • If resistance is felt, stop and realign

    Step 8 – Install Set Screws

    Install the four set screws into the sides of the handguard.

    Recommended:

    • Apply Blue or Purple Loctite before installation

    IMPORTANT:

    • Set screws only need to contact the barrel lightly
    • Do NOT over torque

    Purpose of set screws:

    • Prevent movement
    • Keep the handguard centered and aligned

    Step 9 – Center the Handguard

    Visually inspect the gap between the barrel and handguard.

    Adjust until:

    • Both sides appear even
    • Handguard sits parallel to the barrel

    Once aligned:

    • Snug the set screws evenly

    Step 10 – Tighten Hardware

    Final tighten:

    • Magazine tube screw
    • Pan head screws
    • Rear tensioning screws
    • Side set screws

    IMPORTANT:

    Loctite will secure the hardware

    Hand tight only

    No heavy torque required


    Henry Pistol Caliber MAS Handguard Installation Instructions

    These instructions are for Henry pistol caliber models only.
    If you have a rifle caliber model, refer to the rifle caliber installation instructions, as disassembly is less involved.

    Installation Instructions

    Step 1 – Verify Firearm is Unloaded

    Before starting:

    1. Open the action.
    2. Verify the chamber is empty.
    3. Verify the magazine tube is empty.
    4. Remove all ammunition from the work area.

    DISASSEMBLY

    Step 2 – Remove Buttstock

    Using the appropriate flathead screwdriver:

    1. Remove the buttstock screw from the rear of the stock.
    2. Pull the buttstock rearward and remove it.
    3. Set it aside.

    NOTE

    If equipped with a Ranger Point Precision takedown screw, a flathead screwdriver may not be required.

    Step 3 – Loosen Magazine Tube Retention Screw

    Inside the receiver area:

    1. Locate the hidden 5/64″ magazine tube retention screw underneath the trigger guard area.
    2. Loosen the screw enough to release the outer magazine tube.
    3. Do not fully remove the screw.

    Step 4 – Remove Inner Magazine Tube

    1. Pull the inner magazine tube from the rifle.
    2. Set it aside.

    Step 5 – Remove Factory Handguard

    1. Slide the outer magazine tube forward and remove it.
    2. Slide the factory handguard off the rifle.

    NOTE

    On Henry X models, the factory forearm may fit tightly and require gentle tapping for removal.

    HANDGUARD INSTALLATION

    Step 6 – Reinstall Magazine Tube

    1. Reinsert the outer magazine tube.
    2. Align the magazine tube and tenon with the barrel.

    Step 7 – Install Handguard

    IMPORTANT

    The handguard only installs in one direction.

    • QD sockets and loading port cutout must face correctly.
    • Rear flange slides into the receiver.

    To install:

    1. Slide the handguard into the receiver.
    2. Pull it over the factory tenon.
    3. Seat the handguard fully into place.

    Step 8 – Install Pan Head Screws

    3. Tighten lightly only at this stage.

    IMPORTANT

    Purpose of Set Screws

    • Prevent movement.

    Step 10 – Tighten Magazine Tube Retention Screw

    Using a 5/64″ Allen key:

    1. Tighten the magazine tube retention screw handtight.

    WARNING

    Do not overtighten. Excessive torque can deform the magazine tube.

    FINAL ALIGNMENT

    Step 11 – Center Handguard

    Visually inspect the gap between the barrel and handguard.

    Adjust until:

    • Both sides appear even.
    • The handguard sits parallel to the barrel.

    Step 12 – Final Tightening

    After confirming the handguard is centered:

    • Factory Tenon Screws: 8 in-lbs
    • Handguard Alignment / Set Screws: Hand Tight Only

    IMPORTANT

    • Set screws should only lightly contact the barrel.
    • Do not apply additional torque after barrel contact is achieved.
    • Allow thread locker to cure before firing.

    MAS & Gator Rail Installation

    The MAS system utilizes one or two Gator Rails mounted to the top of the handguard.

    Step 1 – Position Gator Rail

    1. Determine the desired Gator Rail location.
    2. Place the Gator Rail into the mounting pocket on top of the handguard.
    3. Verify orientation before installing hardware.

    NOTE

    • Most users will orient the Gator Rail toward the muzzle.
    • A second Gator Rail may be installed in the forward position if desired.

    Step 2 – Install Gator Rail Mounting Screws

    1. Position the Gator Rail onto the handguard.
    2. Install the four supplied large-head mounting screws.
    3. Start all screws by hand.
    4. Verify the Gator Rail sits flush against the handguard.

    IMPORTANT

    • Do not cross-thread the screws.
    • Test fit all hardware before applying thread locker.

    Recommended

    1. Install all four screws dry.
    2. Verify proper fitment.
    3. Remove one screw at a time.
    4. Apply Blue or Purple Loctite.
    5. Reinstall the screw.

    Step 3 – Install Jack Screws

    The four jack screws install directly behind the mounting screws.

    1. Install all four jack screws.
    2. Tighten until they lightly contact the handguard mounting surface.

    IMPORTANT

    Do not overtighten.

    The mounting screws and jack screws work against one another to securely clamp the Gator Rail to the handguard.

    Step 4 – Final Tightening

    After confirming alignment:

    • Gator Rail Mounting Screws — Hand Tight
    • Jack Screws — Hand Tight

    IMPORTANT

    • Apply Blue or Purple Loctite to the mounting screws.
    • Do not overtighten.
    • Excessive torque may damage aluminum threads.
    • Verify the Gator Rail remains seated flush against the handguard.

    Final Inspection

    Before use:

    • Verify all screws are secure.
    • Ensure the handguard is centered.
    • Cycle the action to confirm proper function.
    • Confirm no interference with the magazine tube or barrel.

    Installation is now complete.

    For Ranger Point Precision Henry Long Ranger and Long Ranger Express rifles

    IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

    Before beginning installation:

    • Remove the magazine
    • Open the action and visually inspect the chamber
    • Verify the firearm is unloaded
    • Remove all live ammunition from the workspace
    • Wear eye protection

    Tools Required

    • #2 Phillips screwdriver
    • 3/16″ Allen wrench
    • Flathead screwdriver
    • Small punch
    • Light oil (optional)

    Included Components

    Trigger Kit Includes:

    • Replacement Trigger/Sear
    • Replacement Sear Spring

    DISASSEMBLY

    Step 1 – Remove Butt Pad

    Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver:

    1. Apply a small amount of oil to the screwdriver tip (optional)
    2. Remove the two butt pad screws
    3. Remove the butt pad and set aside

    TIP:
    A small amount of oil helps prevent damage to the rubber butt pad during screw removal.

    Step 2 – Remove Buttstock

    Using a 3/16″ Allen wrench:

    1. Remove the stock retaining bolt located inside the stock
    2. Leave the bolt in the stock to avoid losing it
    3. Pull the buttstock rearward and remove

    Step 3 – Remove Main Spring Assembly

    At the rear of the receiver:

    1. Unscrew the mainspring coupler by hand
    2. Carefully control spring pressure during removal
    3. Remove:
      • Coupler
      • Main spring
      • Main spring piston

    Set all components aside.

    IMPORTANT:
    No tools should be required to remove the coupler.

    Step 4 – Remove Trigger Guard Plate Screws

    Open the action.

    Using a flathead screwdriver:

    1. Remove the rear trigger guard plate screw (short screw)
    2. Remove the front trigger guard plate screw (long screw)

    IMPORTANT:
    Keep track of screw locations.

    • Rear screw = Short
    • Front screw = Long

    Step 5 – Remove Trigger Guard Assembly

    1. Pull the entire trigger guard assembly downward and out of the receiver
    2. Set the barreled action aside

    SEAR INSTALLATION

    Step 6 – Relieve Hammer Tension

    With the trigger assembly removed:

    1. Ensure the lever is closed and locked
    2. Pull the trigger
    3. Allow the hammer to move forward

    This removes tension from the sear.

    Step 7 – Remove Factory Sear Spring

    Using a small punch:

    1. Lift and remove the factory sear spring
    2. Set aside

    Step 8 – Remove Factory Sear

    1. Push the sear retaining pin out
    2. Remove the factory sear

    Step 9 – Install New Sear

    1. Position the new sear over the sear support post
    2. Align the pin holes
    3. Reinstall the sear retaining pin

    Verify the sear pivots freely.

    Step 10 – Install New Sear Spring

    1. Place the spring onto the spring post
    2. Compress slightly
    3. Engage the spring in its retaining notch

    Verify the spring applies pressure to the sear.

    REASSEMBLY

    Step 11 – Position Trigger Guard Assembly

    IMPORTANT:
    Proper timing of the action is critical.

    Before installing:

    1. Ensure the lever is fully closed and locked
    2. Rotate the hammer upward slightly
    3. Push the bolt fully forward into battery

    The bolt must remain fully forward during installation.

    Step 12 – Align Hammer Rebound Plunger

    As the trigger assembly is installed:

    1. Ensure the hammer rebound plunger protrudes through the rear receiver opening
    2. Confirm it can be felt through the rear mainspring access hole

    WARNING:
    Failure to align this plunger correctly will result in improper operation.

    Step 13 – Install Trigger Guard Assembly

    1. Insert the trigger guard assembly into the receiver
    2. Keep downward pressure on the assembly to maintain gear timing
    3. Align mounting holes

    Step 14 – Install Rear Trigger Guard Screw

    Install the short trigger guard screw first.

    1. Hold the assembly firmly in position
    2. Install the short screw
    3. Tighten snugly

    Step 15 – Verify Timing

    Check the rear of the receiver.

    Correct installation:

    • Bolt sits flush with the rear of the receiver

    If the bolt is not flush:

    • Remove the assembly
    • Repeat installation and timing procedure

    IMPORTANT:
    This is the primary indicator that the action is timed correctly.

    Step 16 – Reinstall Main Spring Assembly

    At the rear of the receiver:

    1. Align the mainspring piston with the hammer rebound plunger
    2. Insert:
      • Main spring piston
      • Main spring
      • Coupler
    3. Compress slightly
    4. Thread the coupler into the receiver by hand

    IMPORTANT:

    • No Loctite required
    • No tools required
    • Hand-tight only

    Step 17 – Function Check Hammer

    Before reinstalling the stock:

    1. Cock the hammer
    2. Pull the trigger
    3. Verify proper hammer release

    Step 18 – Reinstall Buttstock

    1. Slide the buttstock onto the receiver
    2. Reinstall the stock bolt
    3. Tighten using a 3/16″ Allen wrench

    NOTE:
    The stock bolt threads into the mainspring coupler.

    Step 19 – Reinstall Butt Pad

    1. Position the butt pad
    2. Apply a small amount of oil to the screwdriver if desired
    3. Reinstall both screws
    4. Tighten snugly

    Do not overtighten.

    FINAL FUNCTION TEST

    Perform the following checks:

    Lever Function

    • Open and close the lever
    • Verify smooth operation

    Bolt Position

    • Confirm the bolt sits flush with the rear of the receiver when closed

    Trigger Function

    • Cock the hammer
    • Pull the trigger
    • Verify clean hammer release

    Safety Verification

    • Cycle the action several times
    • Confirm proper trigger reset and hammer engagement

    If all checks pass, installation is complete.
