Use care during removal to avoid damaging the firearm or handguard.

HANDGUARD INSTALLATION

Step 6 – Install RPP Barrel Band

Orient the barrel band correctly:

  • Threaded adjustment hole faces upward.
  • Set screw aligns with the barrel groove.
  1. Slide the barrel band onto the barrel.
  2. Align the set screw with the barrel groove.
  3. Install the supplied set screw.
  4. Tighten lightly.

IMPORTANT

Do not overtighten.

The barrel band is designed to accommodate variations in barrel diameter.

A small amount of movement is normal at this stage.

Step 7 – Install Handguard

  1. Position the handguard onto the rifle.
  2. Insert the rear flange into the receiver.
  3. Ensure the handguard is fully seated.

Step 8 – Install Barrel Band Mounting Screws

  1. Align the handguard with the barrel band.
  2. Install the supplied mounting screws through the handguard into the barrel band.
  3. Leave slightly loose for final alignment.

IMPORTANT

Do not fully tighten at this stage.

Step 9 – Reinstall Magazine Tube

  1. Reinstall the magazine tube.
  2. Ensure the magazine tube is properly indexed.
  3. Reinstall the front barrel band.

NOTE

The magazine tube and barrel grooves must align correctly before installing hardware.

  1. Reinstall the magazine spring.
  2. Compress the spring carefully.
  3. Reinstall the magazine tube end cap.
  4. Reinstall the end cap screw.

WARNING

Step 11 – Install Upper Barrel Band Screw

  1. Install the upper barrel band screw.
  2. Torque to 6in/lbs.

IMPORTANT

Do not overtighten the upper barrel band screw.

The barrel band is designed to accommodate variations in barrel diameter between manufacturers and production runs.

The upper screw secures the barrel band while the rear alignment set screws stabilize the handguard.

Step 12 – Install Rear Alignment Set Screws

  1. Install the rear alignment set screws.
  2. Tighten until they lightly contact the barrel.

IMPORTANT

  • Do not overtighten.

MAS & Gator Rail Installation

The MAS system utilizes one or two Gator Rails mounted to the top of the handguard.

Step 15 – Position Gator Rail

  1. Determine the desired Gator Rail location.
  2. Place the Gator Rail into the mounting pocket on top of the handguard.
  3. Verify orientation before installing hardware.

NOTE

  • Most users will orient the Gator Rail toward the muzzle.
  • A second Gator Rail may be installed in the forward position if desired.

Recommended

  1. Install all four screws dry.
  2. Verify proper fitment.
  3. Remove one screw at a time.
  4. Apply Blue or Purple Loctite.
  5. Reinstall the screw.

Step 17 – Install Jack Screws

The four jack screws install directly behind the mounting screws.

  1. Install all four jack screws.
  2. Tighten until they lightly contact the handguard mounting surface.

IMPORTANT

The mounting screws and jack screws work against one another to securely clamp the Gator Rail to the handguard.

Step 18 – Final Tightening

After confirming alignment:

  • Gator Rail Mounting Screws — Hand Tight
  • Jack Screws — Hand Tight

IMPORTANT

  • Apply Blue or Purple Loctite to the mounting screws.

Final Inspection

Before use:

  • Verify all screws are secure.
  • Ensure the handguard is centered.
  • Verify proper magazine tube alignment.
  • Cycle the action to verify proper function.
